There are two major types of archery releases. The first is a target release that is used at the range for competitions and to shoot in leagues. A target release has many different grip options to suit what any archer is looking for. A quality target release is going to cost more than a standard hunting release but for archers shooting in competitions you can not settle for second best.

A hunting bow release has to be able to meet the demands of an archery hunter on the go. Having an archery release that fails when you need it the most is simply not an option for hunters. A quality release is an essential peice of bow hunting equipment and you should weigh all options before getting the "best deal" or the cheapest. The trigger mechanism on low quality release aids are not as adjustable with low quality releases. This can contribute to pulled shots and target panic.
